Cylindrical parts – horizontal balancing machine:
Cylindrical parts must be always balanced in 2 planes. Normally this is done with horizontal balancing machines. A direct balancing in a turning lathe is also possible, in combination with rolling particles and a separate belt drive.
The vibration sensor resp. sensors
are mounted in the area of the bearings in radial way in horizontal position. At older machines it is possible that the exact position must be determined empirical. The speed is measured with the speed sensor, in axial or radial way.
Vertical balancing machines:
Mainly used for high-rotating tools and work pieces. The size of the machine depends on the dimension and weight of the work piece.
As in vertical balancing machines the part to be balanced is mainly hold in a clamping device (e.g. adapter, expanding sleeve, collect chuck, etc.), the balancing should be always done with index method.
Eventually occurring clamping errors are compensated by that.
